Did ‘Portrait’ Melania Outmove ‘Princess’ Ivanka In White House Power Play?

The infamous quote goes “beware the quiet man. For while others speak, he watched. And while others act, he plans. And when they finally rest… he strikes.”

When Hollywood decided to let Christian Bale portray vice-president Dick Cheney in the 2018 movie ‘Vice’, this was the plotline the marketing team choose. According to the movie’s tale, Cheney worked behind the scenes and from the shadows to become the most powerful politician during George W Bush double presidency.

In the past few years many seem to have forgotten that there was another occupant of the White House doing the exact same thing, plotting and moving in the shadows. Even bigger problem is that no one noticed it might have been Melania, the quiet one.

The Art Of Her Deal

According to a new book entitled ‘the art of her deal’ Melania Trump immediately set the rules for her stepdaughter Ivanka Trump in this presidential adventure at the time of the election of Donald Trump.

Back in 2016, Donald Trump triumphed over Hillary Clinton. The Republican was elected over the Democratic favorite, creating a major surprise around the world. How did this American billionaire, owner of Trump Tower and organizer of the Miss Universe beauty contest, get through the doors of the White House? It is rumored that Donald Trump did not expect to win his own election. So when his life was turned upside down on November 8, 2016, he could count on the support of his family for this new chapter. His daughter Ivanka Trump, an advisor to the White House, couldn’t be more excited though.

Quickly, she took over the reins of her father’s political career. Because when she was elected First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump made the choice to remain at Trump Tower, in New York, with their son Barron then aged 10 years.

Ivanka Trump sets down her pawns to take control of the White House … but is immediately stopped by her stepmother.

As journalist Mary Jordan tells in the biography The Art of Her Deal, the latter intervened when Ivanka Trump wished to rename the “First Lady’s Office” to “First Family Office”.

She acts in the shadows

“Melania did not allow that to happen. It was tradition, and she was not going to let her stepdaughter change it.  Ivanka’s office remained in the West Wing.”

Quickly, Melania Trump “set the limits” of the involvement of Ivanka Trump, 38, in the political mandate of Donald Trump. “When she and Barron finally moved in, she put an end to this revolving door,” claims author Mary Jordan.

If it is often in the shadows that Melania Trump holds sway over what Donald does. As Sean Spicer, director of communications for Donald Trump when he was elected, until March 2017, confirmed in the book, Melania is “very behind-the-scenes but incredibly influential”, with the president taking “her views very seriously.”

The Portrait and the Princess

The two also reportedly are not too keen of each other. Ivanka refers to her stepmother as ‘The Portrait’ as Melania is mostly quiet. Melania herself is said to have referred to Ivanka as ‘The Princess’.
